Colon Cleansing Foods
73If you want to start cleansing your colon, it's time to start thinking about the foods that you eat. There's a variety of foods that are good for cleansing your colon, so let's take a look at some additions you can make to your diet.
Just
keep in mind that it's important to eliminate the bad stuff too -- like
all that junk food that keeps you blocked up -- otherwise, these colon
cleansing foods won't be able to work at their maximum impact.
One of the best ways to do a detox cleanse is to start eating a raw diet,
or getting as close to it as possible. Spending at least a few weeks
eating mostly a raw foods diet will help detoxify your whole body and
clean your colon.
Avoid all the white starchy foods, like
pasta, break and all those fatty, sugary carbs - donuts, cookies, etc.
Stop eating fried foods and cut back on the animal protein for now. It
takes longer to digest. If you must indulge, fish is better than
chicken and chicken is better than beef.
Focus on the following types of food
- Fresh Vegetables - vegetables should be your dietary focus. Concentrate on spinach, broccoli and leafy greens. Ideally, it is best to eat your veggies raw, but you can work up to this. Try lightly steaming your vegetables until your digestion is comfortable with more raw food.
- Fresh fruits - Berries are your best source of fruits for your colon cleanse. Choose strawberries, blueberries and blackberries. Apples, citrus fruits and pears will help as well.
- Fresh Juices - you can drink both your fruits and your vegetables. But make sure your juices are fresh. Buy a juicer if you need one. The store bought bottled juices just aren't the same.
- Nuts and Seeds - You can enjoy some raw nuts and seeds during your colon cleansing diet. Try raw almonds and walnuts or macadamia nuts. For seeds, there are sunflower and sesame seeds, but the best seed is flax. You can sprinkle some flax seed into your salad.
- Healthy Grains - for the most part, you're best off avoiding most grains/flours during your colon cleanse. Pasta is a no no and so is bread. But some rich in fiber grains are acceptable. Try some brown rice or barley. Stick to unrefined whole grains -- in moderation. They will slow down your detox.
- Water - if you're going to get things loosened up and moving in your colon, you're going to need to drink more water. Cut back on sodas, milk, coffee and other beverages (even diet drinks) in favor of another glass of water. At least 8-10 glasses each day.
