Homemade Colon Cleanse Recipe
73The most popular homemade colon cleanse is a P&B shake, also known as a Psyllium Powder and Bentonite Clay shake. Psyllium provides fiber and the clay is a binder. Both of these work together to help push the toxic crud out of your colon.
Once you mix up your P&B shake, you can start drinking one once per day for about a week. If your system seems to be responding to the colon cleanse recipe positively, then you can start increasing the number of times you drink the mixture each day until you are drinking between 3-5 of them each day. It may take a few months for them to do the job and cleanse your colon completely.
If at any time they are making you feel sick, stop using it. If you are finding that you are constipated, then you might need to cut back on how many shakes you are drinking each day. You should also increase how much water you drink. You want to be fully hydrated.
The P&B shake isn't the best tasting beverage in the world, but it certainly isn't the worst either, so you can easily get used to it.
How to Make a P&B Shake
It's easy enough to make your own psyllium and bentonite clay shake. You can pick up both ingredients at your local health food store or possibly even the health food aisle at your supermarket.
You want psyllium powder and bentonite clay liquid. If you get the bentonite clay powder, you will have to do some work to make sure it is hydrated enough so you can use it in your drink. So just get the liquid bentonite to make things easier. Once you get used to the drink, you'll be choking down several of these per day so anything you can do to make the process more convenient is ideal.
For each shake, use one tablespoon of psyllium and one tablespoon of the liquid bentonite. Add these to between 8-10 ozs of water and then shake or stir.
After you drink the P&B shake, you should drink another full glass of water. The mixture works best if you are fully hydrated and it tends to be dehydrating itself.
Other tips:
- Drink on an empty stomach - Always drink the shake at least one hour before or after eating or taking any medication
- Take a probiotic - the shake will sweep out all of the bacteria in your system, both good and bad, so you want to replace the good bacteria. So try and take a probiotic every day at least an hour after your last shake for the day.
- Give it time to work - the shake isn't going to clean your colon overnight. Most people using a homemade colon cleanse recipe recommend drinking the mixture for at least a month and preferably up to three months.
- Change your diet - the colon cleanser works best if your diet supports it. So switch to a mostly raw diet if you can - lots of veggies, fruits and a lot less white sugar and flour.
If you find that the shake is impossible to take because of the taste, or it just isn't working for you (or you simply don't want to bother with the hassle), I recommend that you just try taking a Colon Cleanse supplement in the form of a capsule. I found it was a lot less work and since I only needed to drink it once a day, it was easier to stick to the cleanse long enough for it to do its job. Check out the Super Colon Cleanse supplement shown here.
A colon cleanse really can help you with a myriad of problems -- it can help with some of your GI problems, with chronic acne, your energy levels and also weight loss. But it is something that takes a little dedication to stick to. That's why it is important to learn how to cleanse your colon and do it the right way, because it does take some time and effort and you will want to have the most success.
